Snowblind

Had to make a short run tonight. I didn't expect to encounter such heavy snow. It was really slushy.

Anyway I tried the fog lights a couple of times to see if they would help with visibility. I couldn't even tell they were on.

When I got home I discovered why, they were packed with snow. I suspect if I would have left them on, they would have melted the snow.

Also, I like the N-fab steps but man they sure clog up with slush. Maybe I need heated steps.

 

This is why halogens should be used in snowy climates instead of LED's.

 

That's a good point. Do newer cars with LED headlights produce enough heat to melt the snow and ice?

 

Not usually.

 

When I was researching fogs I learned about the whole "snow melt" thing. Never thought about it, growing up in the Southeast.

It seems that high performance LEDs do get plenty hot, though. Check out the huge fog light thread on Tacomaworld. DD SS3 get plenty hot in the fancy variety.
