Just had to say goodbye to my 2005 4Runner SR5 with 260K miles on it and still going strong. I hit a deer with it in upstate NY and the insurance company totaled it, despite it still running perfectly - just body damage. Always used snow tires during the winter on it. Got a 2018 4Runner Limited and need to think about snows for next year. But, there is only 1 or 2 20 inch snow tires on the market and they are expensive. Thinking about getting rims as well, so thinking about going with 18 inch rims with my snows and choosing tires that have the right profile to make the diameter of the rim and wheel equivalent to my 20 inch set so that it doesn't mess up the odometer and speedometer readings. Has anyone looked into doing the same thing and, if so, what combo of rims and wheels did you get? Thanks

TRD PRO wheels 17×7.7, I think.
    NITTO Terra Grapples 265/70/17
The tires are an all terrain, they do pretty well here in the snow and ice that we get here in CO.
    They say it's a 60k tire, we'll see

The Matte Grays look good. I have them on my Blue Trail.

Great info...really appreciate the recommendations...do you know if the tire/wheel combo with the 17inch wheels vs the 20 inch wheels on my limited will mess up my speedometer and odometer. All depends on the dimensions of the tire I guess and if the overall diameter is the same as the OEM wheels and tires on my limited.

My wife's is a Limited, no it won't change anything. The tires are the same height as the 20's. Only more rubber less rim.

FYI. As far as the speedo being off, I use a phone app. called "Speed Box". There are others too, but this one was the easiest for me to just glance at while driving.

Limited models often get overlooked, the stock tire size is 245/60/R20 on a plus 15 offset rim. The equivalent tire size to match same width and diameter is 245/75/R17. Running a 265 wide tire on a TRD rim which has 4 offset will rub, wider stance because of offset and wider tire

Correct, when backing out of the driveway at almost max turn it rubbed a little. We lifted it and no rubbing. Used the Toytec Eibach 3/1 lift.

I'll be running the TRD rims for winter on a 2016 limited but running 245/75/R17 tires. Same width and same diameter. Lots are running replica wheels but they have 0 offset and stick out further.

Would 255/70R17 on a TRD wheel rub? They are .5" shorter but .4" wider.

I am interested in what they look like on your ride. Can you take some pictures side/front/back and post them on the forum? I did some research and it looks like the 245/75r17 would be better for the 4x4ing I plan on doing.

    Is a 245-75-17 the same diameter as a 265-70-17?

I wanna stick with 245 because it's better in snow plus it's factory width on limited. 265 with 4 offset on a limited will rub. I do realize that 265/70/R17 are factory on some other models

Why not go with FJ cruiser 17" steel rims for the rims if they are only for winter? Or basically the spare tire rim on the other trim 4runners. These can be found for cheap. Even new from the dealer they are cheap. No reason to spend all kinds of money on temporary rims IMO

    spacer lift front 1inch
family member has a dodge challenger with 20inch alloy wheels so in the cold northeast he purchased 18inch steel rims and got the blizzack snow tires..rear wheel drive so this did work good .. the 20 wheels were performance tires so very bad with any snow.

he purchased the 18inch tires that had the same revs per mile as the 20 inch tires and they fit with no issues same diameter narrower tire ..

I would go with the 18inch wheels .. my 2016 4runner goes thru the snow better than my 2000 4X4 silverado ..has stock wheels and 18inch tires ..

Cool. Was just trying to save you money and time from taking care of nice wheels in a harsh environment. Good luck with your choice.

Will the lug nuts from the 20" wheels work on the TRD Pro wheels?

Apparently they will, obviously you'll have silver lugs on a matte black wheel

Will do when it gets mounted, because of taller sidewall, 75 aspect ratio, 245/75/R17 tires are only available in a LT tire.

350 and tax Canadian here from all the dealers, I can't find a set of takeoffs from a Sr5, trail anything. Black steel rims look like crap and rust within one to two years of use. I'd like to have two sets of rims and tires and change back and forth for winter, no need to break down, balance everyear and changeover can be done in my driveway

Has been a change of plans, was set on TRD rims but they are special order and cost 350 each and tax Canadian. I just picked up these take offs from a 2018 tacoma, same bolt pattern, but 7.5 inches wide and 30 offset. They are similiar to the factory 20s I run. Picked up four for 480 Canadian in like new condition. With be wrapped in studded avalanche extreme tires by hercules

Does anyone know if 255/75r17 with trd pro rims will rub on a 2018 limited?
