Trying to decide between these 2 brands as they are the ones I have liked the most. The quality in the Westcott seems to be extremely good. I am guessing there may not be people here with experience with both. But still, thought I would ask. The RSG thread below has some good feedback. Any likes or regrets for those of you that went with either one?

Zero regrets on RSG. Only feedback I have seen is related to flat top plate can collect stuff and rust over years. Rust belt this may be an issue.

Hope you are comparing apples to apples like DOM vs HREW, angled vs flat, top plate options like regular vs grip, kick out vs no kick out, etc.

I have RSG HREW flat sliders with regular top plate. I do love the functionality but for the looks sometimes I think it would be nice to have angled sliders with no kickout. But I'm a family man, so flat sliders with top plate and kickout are more family friendly :p

For RSG If you are looking for sale / coupons you might want to give a call and check. Now the ownership has changed so I don't have much info about coupon codes now like I used to.

Price honestly is very close so it’s really a wash there. I would be interested in flat, top plate, kick out in dom. It would be that way with both. The TIG welding on the Weatcott sliders looks incredibly nice. I think the discount could be a potential for RSG but it sounds like Westcott rarely does a sale. Personally I like the top plate design of the Westcott best but the RSG setup does seem a little larger with a little more step area.

That's what I have the RSG flat top kickout DOM. Very stout. Standing on it for roof rack was a requirement.

I have Wescott Designs DOM 0 degree with kickout, no top plate. I stand on them for getting up top, just have to be careful when wet. I am very happy with them. I have no experience with RSG. I'm sure they are just as well made.

Really appreciate the feedback guys. I think I am leaning to Westcott because I like their top plate design a little better.

I have WD DOM/TIG zero degrees with kickout and top plates. Jeff and his team provide high quality products and even better customer service. I truly am spoiled living 20 minutes from his shop. I love supporting small businesses who make everything in house. Highly recommend!!

Really wish I was that close. That would be awesome. I know they do some awesome work and would really like to have them install a Magnuson for me. Their attention to detail seems second to none.

Guys with the Westcott sliders, do you by chance have some pictures showing the full side profile of the 4Runner? Basically so you can see the whole vehicle

I’m going with the kick out. I think it accents the 4runner really well. Leaning toward the RSG because of the wait time sounds like you will get a set within a week. Westcott I believe the time frame is quite long.

This helps me confirm RSG since they use a single tube with the kick out, should slide much better. Sooo close to pulling the trigger on RSG now.

RSG has 5 points of contact vs 4 on WC.

I would personally go Westcott. I think they make some of the highest quality aftermarket products hands down. My wait was long and they upgraded my order to DOM and TIG free of charge. Quality people and quality products.

Good looking rig, and it's great you like your sliders...

...except that it's not a reason NOT to go RSG. Although it's certainly a reason why Westcott should be in consideration. If someone prioritizes getting them sooner, or has a trip coming up, then they should theoretically make a different decision.

At the end of the day people do benefit from hearing that folks are satisfied - and I don't think that I have heard anyone who isn't satisfied with RSG, Budbuilt, Westcott, etc.

Heck, even Toyota makes some OEM rock sliders that bolt to the frame that seem to do a great job for the cost.

So beyond that, perhaps it's worth suggesting that people prioritize what is important to them. For example:

    1. Lead time: contact each company, find out the lead time, and then add 2 weeks for safety sake.

    2. Ease of installation: watch install videos for the products, and note what the installation entails. Make a note of how easy they make it look, and then bang your thumb with a hammer.

    3. Design: do they offer a shape you want. Do they offer the angle you want. Do they offer the top plate you want? Is the top plate mounted how you'd like it to be? Is the top plate material what you want it to be? Do they offer the coating (or lack thereof) you'd like?

    4. Price: get a quote, including shipping. Also consider if there are financing options, because if you can get 0% financing for free, you might as well -- you're paying for it already.

    5. Durability: you're NEVER going to get a good answer here, because nobody will use them the same. Still, you probably do want to find out from people in the rust belt how they hold up to rust, and you're going to want to find out from people who use them to support the vehicle's weight whether anything has happened. And even then, you'll still never get a good answer because what you really want to know is what it takes to cause failure.

There are probably other factors. At any rate, people need to take the time to physically create a list and go through this exercise....

...or just say, "Aye, that'll do!" and pick one that ticks a box because they like a logo or because they have a friend who has the same brand.

I mean, as long as someone pays a price they are satisfied with, ends up with sliders that they are happy with, and - most importantly - ends up having their vehicle protected by those sliders, then any choice they make is the correct one.

Question on the kickout. I have the RSG flat top DOM with kickout. I went this direction because I need to use them as a step for roof rack. Kickout provides a great step while putting stuff in roof.

Couple weekends ago I was going up a very tight trail where I was crawling up it hanging out window watching clearance. The kickout took a hard hit from tree and worked great.

Without the kickout not sure if I would have been able to let rear sneak thru with inches of clearance or would have taken a hit.

Sliders and skids I questioned what I really needed for my use. When you take a hard hit definitely feels good on the decision.

Frankly, the kickout looks like it makes sense for backseat passengers as well given the tight door opening back there.
