I recently bought a 2006 Toyota 4Runner. When I go over bumps there’s a significant metal rattle coming from underneath. I got underneath and started banging around and the only thing that rattles is my skid plate. It’s more of a vibration. I checked all the bolts everything’s tights. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to eliminate the the vibration.

Welcome to the forum, did you check to make sure nothing is laying on top of the skid? Just a thought.

If it's a vibration? That plate or something else under there is making contact with something it shouldn't be. Which means you need to spend some time with a flashlight scoping things out. Think safe/be safe if you're under there with the engine running.

I had same problem. It was a loose bolt that was rusted. Had to drill out the bolt, then use tap set to create new threads in the hole. Ended up doing several bolts while I was down there. Now she is tight again and no rattle. I used a cheap tap-and-die set from Irwin Hansen off Amazon, along with some cutting fluid, and it worked like a charm. Go slow and be methodical.
