This is a 2000 4runner rwd SR5. 143,000 miles. Tested, excellent engine and transmission, will probably drive forever. The only problem is the roof has been faded down to the primer as well as the top of the doors. My neighbor is willing to sell it to us for $3500 if we want it. Would you buy it for this price? I recognize that a new paint job would probably cost $3000 and end up costing us $6500 total for it (which would be $2k over bluebook). Buy it and just seal the primer and live with it? Get a maaco job? Let me hear your ideas please. Thanks

It is only 2wd so I would counter with $2500 and then wrap it if possible. Would be cheaper than painting. Find out first if it can be wrapped. It is a shame that people won't take care of the outside of a vehicle.

It’s from the sun frying it. Mine is the same way and I waxed it. I would get it and leave it alone. It’s got character, can’t really see the top of cab.

Easy to paint in the driveway. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It wouldn’t stop me from getting it. I wouldn’t pay $3000 to paint an old car unless it was an antique. Even then, patina finishes are popular, and kind of cool.
