Yesterday I noticed some light saturation at the bottom of both my rear shock boots. The Bilstein 5160 shock bodies show no other signs of leaking. Just here at the bottom of the boots. The shocks are 3yrs old and have 30k street miles on them. No off road usage. Is this considered normal weepage or leakage. I have an upcoming trip where I’ll be traveling across a few states to do some mild off roading and travelling back so I need to know if these need to be replaced asap. Thanks in advance

Thanks. Yeah, I inspected more closely a second time pulling up the boots and no oil was present. Bone dry. Whatever seepage was there before has long dried out.

    Looks more like road grime.

Just to follow up. Sent the photos off to Bilstein and their response was:
“This amount of moisture is normal. If at some point the moisture accumulates to the point it is dripping off of the shock, that would be considered a leak.”
