    Hey guys,

Backed into a railing and scuffed my rear bumper. A couple small spots. Took it to a body shop and all they did was color it in with a paint marker. Looked like crap and the color didn't even match. Tried to sand it and paint it myself. Made it worse. I'm attaching a picture. Is it worth getting it repainted or should I just get a new bumper? I appreciate any advice.

go to another body shop and tell them you want it repaired to factory specs.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea of the cost of that?

I’m gonna say about $500.00 if I remember correctly. That was about a year ago, i still have not had it fixed.

You can’t get a color matched OEM replacement bumper. You can only get the bumper unpainted and then have your body shop or dealer paint it.

As such, best value to just have your existing bumper painted.

Thank you. I noticed that when searching. Could only find the aftermarket ones painted. They have decent reviews, especially with the color match and fit, but i'm concerned about the overall quality. I have contacted a couple body shops to get an estimate.

I agree, have your OEM repainted probably $500. I did that on an Accord except front bumper (and i cracked it). I had it plastic welded and repainted for $500.

I am fussy so I am glad I had it redone

Thanks. I forgot to mention this is a lease so i'm gonna need to get it done. I'm sure the dealership would charge me a couple grand at the end otherwise.

Then you still need to get it painted.

^ for $240? lol you crazy..

I say.. patina.. take her off-road and enjoy. My 2020 has a hundred scratches from the trails. It's a 4Runner. I never lease.. is normal wear and tear not part of the deal? I'd be amazed to go a few years without so much as a parking lot ding.. can't keep 'em perfect after all if you actually use it!
