    Hi all,

First and foremost, I should be 100% honest with you folks before trying to sell something...

    I am a not a 4runner owner.

However, my late father was and he was very passionate about overlanding/off roading with his.

I had joined him on a few trips and fondly remember those times.

And with great sadness, I now need to sell his 4runner. Before I post it to Kijiji or Marketplace I thought and felt in my heart it would be best to try to connect it with other passionate 4runner members.

I will not mislead you though - this thing is far from working. It would be used as a parts car.

The tires are nice and the frame seems alright - but before he passed this year he had the thing completely taken apart for a complete rebuild.

If you are interested, let us touch base - OR if you know of another group/forum I can post, I would appreciate that feedback. I know he had a few groups he was a part of however I think it is in one of his old/deactivated emails.

    Thank you,

    Mitch

Welcome, and sincere condolences on the loss of your father.

You might want to include your location, as your buyer may need to trailer it. Some items that may be attractive to buyers are the cap, sliding windows, and tailgate window, all of which can be hard to come by. You also may want to mention what engine and transmission, and the model year. And if you're inclined to do so in the snow, some good photos of the underside, showing the condition of the frame.

Hi and thank you for the feedback. Not sure the engine and transmission, as he had it all apart in the garage. I will get a few photos of the frame.

Also this vehicle is in southwest Ontario - north/west of Hamilton.

    Agreed. Condolences to you Mitch.
Hopefully you can take solace knowing your Dad was able to get out and do something he loved and that you were able to share some of that with him.

To the group - this truck is most likely a 22re with the 5 speed manual. The 3vz didn't start until 1988. Possible but very unlikely would be the turbo 22re as '87 was the last year for that engine and it would have been mated to a 4 speed auto as standard. Otherwise automatics didn't start until the v6.

Hopefully someone could take on this project but as already posted, frame condition will be a key factor.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Hey Mitch, sorry to hear about your dad passing. If you have the means and time, why not keep it? Sure, it looks like practically nothing now, but I bet back in the day it looked really sharp. That's probably why your dad bought it.

Fix it up and restore it to its former glory. Then keep it for a while and drive it. Every time you drive it you can think about all the great memories you had in it (or working on it) with your dad. It'd be a great way of keeping a piece of him alive.
