    Hi, I’m new to this forum (well, any forum for that matter) I’m not sure if anyone else has this issue, but the running boards that came on my 2017 4-runner are too high to be of any use. Can I purchase brackets that will drop them down?

    Do you currently have the flat plastic type running boards?
    I would recommend researching the Toyota Predator Steps that I believe come factory on some 4Runners, not sure about 2017 fitment. The Predator Steps protrude quite far down to the ground and that step drop height may be what you’re looking for.

    I don't have a better picture but this might give some idea.
    You can install running boards that is made for 5th gen 4Runner Limiteds. They have longer brackets that bring the running boards further down.
    It still look tall because this SR5 have 3in lift with 285/70R17 tires. But if you look at the gap between rocker panel and running board you can see it has a big gap.

    I have the Predator steps that @djwantke spoke of, they seem to be the perfect drop distance for vertically challenged folks. You might check the buy/sell marketplace on this forum, I see them pop up from time to time. Craigslist, FB marketplace and offer-up additionally are other places to look. Welcome to the forum!

    So I believe the running boards I currently have are the OEM tubular step bar. I really like the ones I have, I just want to know if I can change the brackets out in order to drop them down lower.
