Running Boards rotten on 2012 Trail

So I've had these Westin bars on my truck for about six years. One bar is rusted to pieces and the other one is fine. The dealer put them on so hard I bent a wrench trying to get them off.

So I'm stuck having to have someone switch them out. But I don't want Westin anymore since I thought these would last longer. I'd like to go aluminum, but I don't know bars much, go Amazon or through a outfit dealer.

I need some direction. As a side note, my Westin bull bar rusted as well, gota replace that too. ugg.

Where abouts do you live? I have some aluminum running boards for sale.

 

Welcome from Wisconsin Cosmichrist, Where I live this is a common sight.... rust. If you have access to a torch you could probably cut the nuts off of the bars, if you don't have a torch, perhaps a friend does. As far as aluminum bars, we put the chrome plated aluminum steps/bars on our Tacoma, but once again where we live has been the hurdle. The aluminum bars we had got stone dings in the chrome and throughout the winter road salt invaded, got behind the chrome and started corrosion on the bars, they were from Toyota so they warranteed them. If buying used aluminum bars, get some from a friendly climate like the ones Antman has. I believe he may get snow where he is, but they don't use salt on their roads....maybe I'm wrong, but that's one direction!
