So I’ve had the Pionner DMH4600NEX, Maestro RR I datalink running for about six months now. Other than the sound quality being a little off I have a few more questions/issues.

Fade/Balance settings: they will not save. I set up a fade/balance setting, it keeps until I turn the car off. When I power off and back on. The fade/ balance is back to 0/0. Other sound settings like Loud mode low/med/high will save just not the fade/balance.

parking brake bypass: I used one of those 8$ cheater harnesses but still have to wait to wait til the vehicle is fully stopped before making any configuration settings (connections). Is this to be expected or did I wire the bypass wrong?

vehicle info: I get the gauges and tire info but that’s it. No climate control or parking sensors, is this to be expected?

    I've got the same setup in 3 vehicles. I'm a Pioneer/RR fan.

You have a Pioneer problem, not a Maestro problem. Which firmware are you on? I'd start by doing a full factory reset of the head unit. Then see which firmware version you are on. OEM is 1.0. Then there is 1.1 and the latest is 1.2. Be aware that if you upgrade beyond 1.0 you will lose wireless AA - Pioneer has known about this forever and will not fix it.

It also occurs to me that you need to check your wiring harness coming out of the head unit. Red goes to a switched 12v source, and orange goes to a constantly hot. If that orange is not hooked up correctly, the unit will lose all settings every time you turn it off.

You either have a bad bypass or you didn't hook it up properly. Are you using the one that is a full size Bosch-type relay, or the small one the size of a dime? The smaller one is the one that works.

Vehicle info - yes that is correct.

I updated the FW out of the gates to 3.0 with Pioneer AV assist. And yes a double checked the constant wire. Which is yellow. Orange is illumination parking brake wire to control the dimmer. Is there old version of this FW out there somewhere?

Ah, I misread your model number. I thought you had the NEX series, which is on 1.3. If you've checked the wiring and it's good (correct, yellow doh!) then I have no idea. It sounds like your unit is losing power in between cycles. If that's not it, it's got to be a problem with the head unit.

For firmware, go to the AVIC411 forums. I'm sure someone has published it. I'd also do a search on that forum for this problem.

Thanks yeah it’s weird because it’s only not saving the fade/balance. Presets eq settings loudness mode all are intact. Just fade and balance gets reset. I thought maybe it was the maestro box since it has the JBL system and has some weirdness when it comes to wiring the rear speakers, but the balance and fade work perfectly when manually tweaked. Thanks all check that 411 place, I used the AVIC D3 for like ten years in my truck and never had any issues. I installed stereos for circuit city for five years so I am a fan of Pioneer. Not sure what’s up with this one…

Late to the party, but I have a similar problem. I installed an Alpine ilx-F509 in my 2017 4Runner Limited with JBL with a Maestro RR. Everything seems to save, except the fade.

Did you ever get this resolved?
