Does anyone know if the arrows on the roof rack delete kit covers should face forward and inward or backwards and outward? I saw one youtube video and the guy put them on with the arrows facing backwards and outwards but I don't think he knew what he was doing. There were no instructions with the kit I purchased on Amazon. 4runner roof rack delete cover.jpg

Thanks. I agree. Will do that but will also call my local Toyota dealership parts department and see if I can get the guy to look it up in their system.

IMO, the double arrows would designate forward, and the single side arrow would designate right or left side.

From just that picture I would think that meant back right with the arrows pointing in the direction it should be installed. Unless that's a view from the top side and not the bottom and then I would think back left. Does the front ones have the arrows embossed on the front side of the piece?

I didn't get time to call my local dealership today...but I think I just figured out the issue. The Amazon.com seller apparently sent me four right hand side covers. All four covers have the same markings, double arrows pointing forward and a triangle pointing to the right. I think the triangle points inboard. They all have the same part number 75966-35030 which, again, I believe is for right hand side. So if you are standing in front of the vehicle facing the vehicle, these would go on the drivers's side (arrows forward, triangle inboard). I think the left side (passenger side part number is 75966-35020. I've contacted the seller and asked that they send me two for the left side. We'll see how they respond.

Hmm... When I was looking into doing this I vaguely remember other people saying they all are the same parts too. It might be that way intentionally... Though I can't remember exactly sorry.

Might wanna do a few Google searches, and check the bigger forum, prolly find the info you need.

FYI... Not to poke fun, but the driver's side is the left side and passenger side is right. It's based off sitting in vehicle not getting ran over by it....lol

You are correct though the arrow will point in on the side it's supposed to be and forward for the direction it's supposed to face. I remain convinced the arrows being on the back side of that means they were for the rear.

I am not convinced what you bought is OEM though. The Toyota parts should be marked FR LH, FR RH, RR LH, & RR RH.

Also don't overlook the felt gaskets that are stuck/attached to the bottom side of your roof rack bolt holes. These need to be replaced whenever you remove the roof rack for any reason. They are basically your last defence for keeping water from leaking in and your paint from being scratched by the plastic parts if you tighten too much.

Here's the other part you need to order and you'll need 8 of them.

I am glad you didn't poke fun...and it appears you were half right.....and I could have been ran over, that was close....I just found this which indicates they sent me four passenger side front covers, instead of one each: driver front, driver rear, passenger front, passenger rear.

My guess is the front/rear for passenger side is the same part and the front/rear for drivers side is another part. Arrows forward, triangle facing outboard.

Thanks for the input but the bolt-on clips that hold the cover do have the felt gaskets on them. eye bolts for rack delete.jpg

I'd only poke fun if I thought you were a hardly ever right know it all like me. I'll take half right any day.

Just don't forget the gaskets. Felt side down and they stick to the under side of the bolt cover inserts. I've got a bunch of extras that I bought for when I swap out the silver racks for the black ones I paint. If you can't find any for a reasonable price let me know. $16 or less for 8 is reasonable...any more and your supplier isn't very ethical.

Sweet....they don't survive very well being pulled on and off so if you ever remove it order new ones first.

Lots of em here... Also... People in that thread install the same kit you have @WHITE16SR5 all parts with same arrows, in fact the Amazon listing shows they are all the same... And they have no issues installing and using them.

That thread listed above also has some good info on installing them.

I was going to do it myself so I researched it... But after seeing enough pictures I decided I preferred the look with them on.

Well, finally got a chance to remove the rack and install the delete kit. The double arrows are facing forward on passenger side and facing backwards on the driver side with the triangles facing outboard on both sides. Driving enjoyment up as noise is much, much less. I have some friends who say the truck looks "cooler" with the rack on and I've had a few say they like the clean look better. I think these trucks look good not matter what ....almost.....so with and without look good in my opinion but driving the truck and new lack of noise that was their before with the rack on has me really liking it without the rack. I've only used the rack twice in four years and I am keeping the rack so that I can install if I need to use, it takes 30 minutes to install or remove. I used the blue loctite that is not permanent, as I am told the red version is. After waiting a bit, I took the truck through a car wash (which I could not do with the rack on for the past few years) and there were no leaks. Here are some with and without pics. rackless 1.jpg

Just bought the delete kit after my trade for black rails fell through. I hate the TRD Pro rack and don't really need a rack so I'm going the delete route for now.

Here are the factory install instructions, just reverse the steps. Has the torque specs for the bolts too.

If you're installing the rack... pay attention to units in the torque conversion. The wafer bolts are in ft-lb, and the M5 screws are in lb-in. Safest to just use the Nm units.
