So I think we are going to get a 21 nightshade. We will need a roof box for road trips. What is the largest box I can install without it affecting the hatch and antenna. Will also be using the stock rails. What crossbars would work best.

For what it’s worth I had a Thule Pulse Alpine on my previous vehicle, it didn’t fit the 4R. The bars couldn’t go far enough forward to have it clear in the back.

I have a Thule Force XT Large I believe and it fits a great amount what my family does (kids snowboards, luggage, scooters, camping gear). Fits my Runner great and has a indent on the backend for the fun antenna to slide right into. I have factory rails and crossbars. 19FBEC1A-7099-4C64-8324-6D2F32A9E524.jpg

Outside of your thread. I have the same exact car black on black. Did you paint your roof rails?

Nice setup. How many large pieces of luggage can it hold? We would mostly use it for that and maybe a few kids toys like scooters or sports equipment.

I plasti dipped them just as a quick side project. Super cheap. Not 100% satisfied but better than paying 300 bucks to wrap or powder coat them.

On an average trip to Tahoe we can fit:
    Two kids snowboards
    Helmets
    Three duffles of luggage
    Backpack or random stuff

And we still have room to spare but the other things I put in the back of the car.

I have the XT XL, it’s 7’ long and while it will fit on the oem rack and crossbars, you can’t open the tailgate more than halfway. The front uprights on the oem rail don’t allow you to move the crossbars far enough forward. It only needs like 4” at most. I had the XL on my Yukon XL so it wasn’t a big deal.

I use the Thule Motion XT with OEM crossbars. Very close to the sharkfin but no issues.

I know I am late to this thread, but do you have the L (16 cubic foot) or XL (18 cubic foot) model?

Thule Motion XT L, on thule crossbars. The Motion has a more robust latch/lock mechanism than the Force, this is an important difference imo.
