Hi, I'm Brian from Portland, OR, and I am hoping to buy a 1st gen over the next couple of months. I have a question that seams to be hard to track down without actually owning one. I am looking for the width of the cargo area at the narrowest point above the wheel wells. I'm not sure from photos whether it is narrower at the inner lip of the tailgate or if it is the roll bar.

The reason is I have to transport full sheets of plywood sometimes and would love for them to go in the cargo area instead of on the roof. I'm not concerned with the length, as my short bed Tacoma does it just fine hanging out the back. Thanks!

It's around 46" in between the roll bar so you won't fit a sheet in flat but can fit a couple at an angle.
