Suggestions for reverse lighting? I was looking into the diode dynamics stage series reverse light kit and also the Kc hilites c series flood system ‍♀️ or ????
I really don’t need it to turn on except for in reverse…. So something LED and simple would be great… suggestions please

That product works well. I had one in my Tacoma and it now resides in my basement. Why didn't I install it on our new 4Runner? To do it right, you need to run the wiring into the back hatch, through the umbilical to the body, then down to a taillight to tap into the reverse light circuit. On a vehicle without a plate punt on the hatch, the install is much simpler.

    I did this instead:

Super easy install. Just slide the light into the hitch receiver and run the connector to the trailer plug. Will take you a few minutes.

There's some tape on the back of the trailer connector. Depending on how old your truck is, the tape can be crusty / caked in dirt. The thick wiring bundle is also cumbersome to bend. Other than that, it's plug & play. Spray some silicone lube in the C1R's Deutsch connector if it's tight. Beware if you go off road, the light can be destroyed fairly quickly, being on the leading edge of the hitch.

I like this. How did you wire it? Does it turn on with the reverse lights or a separate switch? What’s the manufacturer? Thanks!

The lights shown in the picture are Baja Designs S2 Sports with a Combo lens. I'm in the process of replacing them with Diode Dynamics SSC2 Sports because the reflectors in the BD lights went bad after 2 years.

As for wiring, they're wired directly to the left rear taillight area to come on only with the reverse lights. There's a nice rubber grommet just forward of the jack / tool storage area that we went through with the wiring. The DD lights have a nifty backlight feature that we will be using as auxiliary (red) running lights.

I ended up installing the diode dynamic reverse set SC1 sport and it is absolutely perfect!! Took a while to run the engine bay wire to the rear, but not difficult at all!! Highly recommended

I just ordered the Diode Dynamics SC1 Pro back-up light kit. I had been eyeing it for a while and decided to pull the trigger while it was 20% off during the Black Friday sale.

I have an Auxbeam switch panel - Fuse/Relay Box already installed for driving lights and plan to wire it so the b ackup lights will automatically come on when I shift to reverse and can be turned on anytime via the Auxbeam switch panel in the cabin. The nice folks at Diode Dynamics gave me instructions on how to custom wire the provided switch into the Auxbeam Fuse/Relay box to make it work. Custom wiring will involve inserting a diode into one of the switch legs (yellow) and splicing a power leg for my Auxbeam Fuse/Relay box into another switch leg (green).

I'll take some pics when I install and share how it works out.

    Cheers,
    Bob

If the lights are sealed properly, you will not have any issues with reflectors. A damaged reflector or dark spots on the reflector is an indication of water intrusion. This is covered under our lifetime warranty. Please reach out to brahianh@bajadesigns.com if you would like to get replacement parts or get them repaired under warranty.
