First debut pics posted of OR, Sport, and Platinum trims: Really liking that Platinum interior, but the cloth Off-Road seats not so much!

Nine trims is crazy and seems like overkill.

Those seats with the horizontal lines look like cheap after market covers.

Am I seeing this right on the Trailhunter, they painted the snorkel a silver/gray? Holy shit that looks garbage.

    Nah. It’s just light reflection.

Would be embarrassed to be seen in that over-styled mess.
Imagine walking up to that in a parking lot. “I paid for this monstrosity?”

Thx. Even painted black the overall look still pretty ugly tho.

Surely the American team designed the overall look. Almost feels like the engineers got to design the outside, instead of actual designers.

The Toyota American team consists of fools from GM and Ford.. applying their domestic sensibilities on these new gen Toyota trucks..

Good job Toyota corporate. For diluting the car culture there.. instead of differentiating yourself with strictly Japanese offerings you deliver these confused models that fail in all aspects

I prefer my 5th gen, but I dont hate them. The Sport is interesting to me looks wise now that the Sport/Limiteds dont have wildly different bumpers.

The side profile is growing on me, but the front end is terrible and overall I agree it's an over styled mess. Just like the Taco, there's a line of them outside my local dealer and godDAMN are they ugly.

I also think the interior of the new Toyotas looks horrible. Non-flat folding rear seat is a huge fail as well.

I'm kind of glad these are so terrible. I can't afford or justify these prices, so now I don't have to even think about it.

Maybe I am in the minority but I think the new Taco looks better than the new 4R. Which is disappointing to me. Looks wise no question in my mind its

    GX 550 >> LC >> Taco > 4R

    in the new toyota/lexus lineup.

Front is definitely the most overstyled part of the 6th gen. Better in darker colors where it hides some lines.

Over-styled sells. Just look at all the gaudy aftermarket bullsh*t people put on their rigs. Integrated snorkel, painted to match the trim, brilliant. Needs raptor lights. People are going to buy it before it hits the dealer lots. No one (really) wants function over form, even if we all say we do.

I'd be much more impressed if they said 4.10/4.11 gearing in the differentials than color-coordinated raised air intake, but if it got 1 mpg less than it does with 3.73 everyone would throw their hands up and talk about how crappy the mileage is compared to a Crosstrek, not understanding it had 10% more torque at the wheels, or crawled 10% slower in 4-low.

Anyway, a bunch of people, 5th Gen owners today, will buy it as soon as it's available.

I wonder if the 6th gen has frame mounted bump stops, anyone know? Or will it have the same problem the tacomas are having.

It's been discussed quite a bit in other threads after new Tacoma shocks going through top hat after hitting potholes.

4runner is same engine, same transmission, and same platform as Tacoma.
    • Tacoma has no frame-mounted bump stops.
    • 6th 4Runner gen has no frame-mounted bump stops.
the Lexus and Land Cruiser still have traditional frame mounted bump stops. It seems Toyota has designated this as a high-end feature now.

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/bump-stops.40383/

At least two aftermarket companies already offering a fix with strong plates that will mount on your top hat to prevent the top of the shock from blasting through the cheap-ass aluminum lock ring that comes from the factory.

It’s so wide and so round that in pictures it appears shorter than it probably is. My main criticism of Gen6 (and the Gen4 Tacoma) is that it physically and visually occupies a lot more space, but offers no significant increase of useful interior space over the prior gen.

I’d hold my judgement until I can see one in person, but it appears “rugged”enough to be commercially successful in a market where customers now demand A/T’s on their Honda Pilots.

Yah it does look like a mini Sequoia.

But if you look at Sequoia and Tundra together, they are exact same interiors, while 4Runner interior matches Taco interior (overall).

All the busy body lines everywhere works better when stretched out on a larger SUV like the Sequoia though

It’s still coming with a twin turbo 4-cylinder, right? Or batteries. They could leave the entire appearance, inside and out, and it would still be a no for me. But I hope it sells like crazy and it’s reliability is good for everyone who buys it.

Seems expensive. Will they have a basic 2025 4WD available for around $39,000.00?

"We expect 2025 Toyota 4Runner prices to start at around $43,000 and top out on the other side of $60,000."

    -KBB

So the cheapest 4WD will probably be 45+

I keep hoping we get to a major tipping point with car prices where sales fall off drastically.

But nope. People keep shelling out more from their endless money tree. Lmao
