    Hello everyone!!!
Just wanted to provide some feedback on my latest upgrade on my 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. I recently purchased a 2023 OEM radio with navigation. The harness (2.0 to 3.0) I purchased is a complete plug and play for Toyota 4Runner 2014 to 2019 for non-JBL models from www.autoharnesshouse.com
With this harness, you will retain all original functions including the steering wheel controls. It’s truly a fantastic upgrade for those that would like to swap to an OEM radio with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, HD Radio, SiriusXM etc instead of an aftermarket radio. The harness will also work with a front facing camera as well. Before I purchased the harness, I emailed the company and Brian (the owner) was extremely helpful and very patient to answer any questions I had. I’m very pleased with my purchase on both the radio and the harness and it’s a night and day difference and upgrade for any 2014-2019 4Runners!!!
Below are some pictures of my installation. If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask or PM me.

This is the harness 2.0 to 3.0 from www.autoharnesshouse.com
    [IMG][IMG]

Here are the connections to the factory harness. Please note, what you see that is NOT connected to the 2.0 to 3.0 harness is because it connects directly to the actual radio.

Here is the connection to the radio.

Final result after everything is plugged in!

The harness alone is 230 bucks. How much was the headunit?

I got the headunit locally for $1,000 from a 2022 4runner SR5 Premium. LKQ have them but they don't have enough info on the vehicle, but they provide you with the vin# so you can do your own research. eBay is also a good source, but it can be pricey as they have them for a lot more. As for the harness, I'm pretty sure that the owner can do a group buy if he gets enough interest etc. To me, it was worth every penny for both the radio and the harness, especially when is a direct plug and play without cutting anything and having the 8''inch screens makes a huge difference maintaining the OEM look as well.

When you purchased this, was this head unit already the glossy black? Or was it silver?

I have a 2019 nightshade and I want to upgrade the head unit. I’m having a hard time finding one reasonably priced that is black and has JBL audio.

Do you retain GPS with this or is that now mirrored off your phone?

Me and my friend got 2 head units, one in silver and one in black from LKQ reasonably priced. Ebay prices are ridiculous if that’s where you looking. You can also check with your local junkyard.

You retain both OEM gps and when connecting to Apple CarPlay/android you can mirror it as well.

Hey STrooper, awesome post! So happy you made this thread, so I was leaning on getting the T10 headunit since I love the fact it was close to OEM looking. Now I'm following your lead, just purchased my headunit from the recommend website you provided. So I do have a question about the harness. So the headunit I purchase is from a 2021 TRD Offroad, but I dont know if it's the premium w/jbl or not and my vehicle doesn't have jbl audio? Any advice on the harness, thanks

Funny you mentioned the T10 as I also consider that radio. But after doing some research I noticed a lot of people having issues and I quickly drift away from it. The harness from www.autoharnesshouse.com will only work with the non-JBL OEM head unit, so you are good to go with your purchase!

Haha that is funny, almost feel like that is the go to headunit. Yeah, I was put off by so many complaints in the headunit and didn't like the fact everyone was having problems with the mic and people either couldn't hear or sounded muffled. Man thanks alot for the quick replied, I just put in my order for the harness. Question, do OEM headunit have navigation?

Some do have navigation and some don’t. I believe but not sure, the ones with navigation and XM will have the extra plugs as circled below.

That is correct. The units that have navigation come with a core unit under the main unit. There is a factory harness that connects the grey connector on the lower unit to the green and white connector to the upper unit. It's necessary for GPS.

Just for the record, you can do the swap even if you have JBL. You just need to tell them as you'll need the 20+ JBL amp and another harness. Did it on mine probably a year ago now and I'm still loving it. The only problem I had with mine was the USB harness to meet the front port did not work for Android Auto. I ended up just plugging a wireless adapter directly to the usb behind the headunit and securing it with zipties so it didn't unplug itself.

Only Limiteds and TRD Pros will have JBL. You'll see a little JBL logo on your speakers and below the screen on the radio. And yeah bigger screen, AA and Carplay, retain nav, other than that it's more of lateral move. Didn't notice any speaker improvement. Trying to add another sub but they do not make it easy for us.

Are you sure only Limiteds and TRD Pros come with the JBL system? Also, is navigation standard across all trim levels in the 2020+ models?

Can you elaborate? Did you swap a JBL Entune 3.0 headunit in? What was the total cost? My wife’s 2017 has an aftermarket unit and I’d really like to get rid of it

Yes I swapped in a 2021 headunit. The kicker is you have to install the 2021 amp as well. I found the headunit used from a guy on Instagram 2jz swapping his 4runner but I had to buy the amp from the parts dept. and that was $1500... I will never say this is the smart move but if you want to keep it all OEM it's the best option. It's worth it to me. Makes it a little more unique y'know.

Yeah. SR5 and TRD Premiums don't get JBL as an option. I'm pretty sure 20+ nav is a little more optional. it'll depend on the headunit.

I need to get a non JBL , with Navigation and XM unit. Hard to figure out from units not sold at eBay.

LKQ is where I got mine at a great price better than eBay. You can also check your local junk yard as well. You will be impressed to see how many brand new cars are for parts and no damages to the interior etc.

I am checking out LKQ everyday after you mentioned it. Unfortunately they are very bad at describing the units they have for sale. They have two available right now, and both of them are JBL from what I can make out from the pictures.
Local junkyards don't have a single 4runner available.

OP, what about the dash piece? Where did you buy that and is it OEM? I have a 2016 with the smaller screen and I think that is what you had before.

I purchased two units from LKQ from "0" mile cars that still had the plastic on them....both went back. Units had several defects, screen damage and paint scuffs. They also sell on Bay......my guess is they take the primo units and push to Ebay and sell only the marginal units on their website.

What do you mean by dash piece? Everything is OEM on the radio, nothing is aftermarket even the radio brackets are the same for every 5th Gen 4Runner. Even if you buy the radio without the a/c vents, you can swapped them from your old radio to the new one without any issues.
