my '92 4runner is getting better and better as i replace the old and the broken, but now i think i need a new steering wheel, the one i have is a bit worn and i think a new one is in order. obviously being out of production for nearly 25+ years will make things.. difficult to say the least
Is there a place that i could get a better than fair quality replacement steering wheel without losing the airbag,m something stock toyota, or any other wheel's that i can fit say from a corolla or other car? Ive heard the newer 4runners can do this to some degree, but im new to toyota, and customization..

I would very much avoid using steering wheel covers. never once have I found one i like, or feel.

I don't think you'll lose an airbag because a 92 doesn't have any airbags. They didn't come with airbags until 95.

No airbag in a 92. Should be able to put just about any steering wheel on it.

Show us a picture! By the way, airbags were introduced to the 4Runner when it was redesigned as the 3rd gen in 1995 as the 1996 model.

that steering wheel is Not bad a good cleaning and re-dye with SEM marine Vinyl coat or leather dye will bring that back to looking brand new! it may take a little to get the exact color you want but it works very good and will not come off on your hands

You’re looking for the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System, not a mistype of SR5) logo anywhere to confirm the existence of an airbag. Pretty sure they have to label anything that explodes in your face, lol.

But as @trlhiker correctly points out, that’s a non-airbag steering wheel with what looks like just enough space for a clock spring and horn.

There is a really easy way to tell though. The horn cover should unscrew from the back pretty easily, and if you get it all the way off without running into a very difficult (and brightly-labeled) electrical connector (the airbag connection), then you don’t have one and can carry on :) If you run into something that says airbag/SRS/“don’t touch without a professional” stop there and know you’ve confirmed an airbag :)

so the buttons on the wheel are faded out, any idea what it supposed to read? i know one says cruise control on one side, and it works but im not entirely sure. I haven't driven the thing on the road since I bought it and started to repair it, (cant register it without a title it seems), but the cruise and horn work atleast tell me they work but what are the buttons supposed to read? If this has no airbag, im gonna want to put in a new wheel, and add the buttons back on

right single button is the cruise control on/ off. right double button is the set/ cancel. left double button is accel/ decel. If I remember correctly. Sold mine about a year ago... I may be backwards on the double buttons but Im pretty sure. And there is no airbag. Check your local Pick-N-Pulls or E-bay unless you want a "new" aftermarket one. Those will be about $150.

Other way around. Left button is on/off. Right single button is cancel. Lower button is set/decel. Upper one is resume/accel.

I knew it was close.. the things you dont really pay attention to on a daily basis and then have to remember to a T a year or more later....
    Thanks for clarifying

so yeah can confirm now no airbags. so now the question is. when I now replace the wheel, how can i add back the cruise control. the buttons are the cruise on/off that is a click button with a spring return, and the cancel and speed up/down. the wiring is very simple, but they are only 2 wires. does that mean i just need only 2 buttons or do i have to add back the cancel? the backing of both buttons are hilariously simple printed circuits, but the cancel and up/down are linked...
