I recently took my 1999 3.4l runner in with power steering issues. The mechanic put on a power steering pump but the issue of a whine persisted. He told me I needed a new rack. I went ahead and purchased a brand new rack, struts, tie rod ends, mount kit.

    All installed.

it still whined. I took it back to mechanic who checked lines and brought it back non-whining.

this morning I fired it up cold and whined like a Banshi. Any ideas?

Some mechanics are like Dr's and you know what they say about them? Always get AT LEAST 2 opinions but never in the same office...shop.

    Good luck with your build.
