Removing the 12v power point / cigarette lighter cover?

Any way to remove the little cover flap on the 12v cigarette lighter without breaking it? I would like to keep the charger in all the time without the cover sticking out...

 

I pushed the hinge/dowel pin out for the same reason

Or you can flip cover so it opens up

 

Great question. I have that same flap hanging down all the time myself on both my 4R's. Would be interested in the best solution to remove it without breaking it.

 

How did you do that? I tried tapping it out but not getting anywhere.

 

I used a similar diameter drill bit mated to the flat end and tapped it out with a small hammer.
