Can anyone recommend a shop in the Delaware county/Philadelphia area to disconnect the x-reas and convert my 2018 limited to regular shocks and struts? Should I try the dealership?

Wish I could help you...I'm guessing you have neither the facilities nor the inclination to attempt this yourself?

Im capable but Im not sure I want to tackle it. Also its my wife’s truck. It got flagged on inspection for a leaking strut. The dealer wants $1500 to fix one. For that price I should be able to delete and replace them all to save money down the road when the others inevitably fail. I’m not a fan of doing this work on jack stands.

Are you sure they can replace just one? Lots of feedback saying it has to be a set as it all interconnected. Unless they are just trying to rip you off.

I too have a limited with XREAS suspension and I’m pretty sure from my reading and research that it’s all or none. I too would like to remove it for a short lift and looked into it but will wait for the 1st leak.

That’s what the estimate said. Who knows what they say once they get started. I agree the system is sealed and it appears to be all or nothing. I can’t believe the leak is bad enough to fail inspection. I guess I’ll call around and see if any local shops do the conversion. I have a feeling not many do.

As far as replacing just one; I had one leaking while under warranty, and the dealership did indeed replace the one. When the second one leaked, I dumped the darn things.

It is a DYI job if you’re feeling like it. The trick is the hydraulic line couplings can be disconnected without losing any significant amount of fluid. Then the lines can be removed cleanly by unbolting them from the frame and brackets.

I didn’t document any of this work but there is one YouTube post that shows how it works. Actually, only one.

If you want to pull the system cleanly, look for the only vid that didn’t involve hydraulic fluid spraying all over the place!
