Anyone with a lift have issues when replacing their windshields?

shop told me they can’t calibrate due to lift. However I’ve had the dealer do it when the vehicle was in for a repair (body shop brought it in not me)

"Can't calibrate due to lift." I'm certainly no expert but, hog wash. fwiw, some auto body shops and windshield installers can do recalibration.

 Misread your post. My initial take, Toyota was saying, they could not. After a nights sleep, your post and a reread I get it now.

If possible please share the details for the cost for the re-calibration for the lift. Thanks in advance..:)

This was a concern when I was checking to lift my 2021 where this Youtuber in my thread link claimed Toyota will never put their name behind re-calibration for a lift. I wanted guaranteed work vs "I have no issues with it after lift".

I actually had my windscreen replaced, and had my Toyota dealer calibrate the Safety Sense system to my new height. They had no issues doing it. They actually told me anything over a 3 inch lift starts to run into issues with accurate calibration. My system works really well now, post lift. Have had no issues. It cost about $350 to do it though, which my insurance company reimbursed.

    Cheers,

    Sean

yeah my local dealer is going to do it, however just strange the window shop can’t and every shop in my area said they can’t.

just annoyed now I have to go to two different places to take care of the windshield on two different days.

This subject came up awhile back on the forum. Glad there's a solution for you guys.

Maybe it requires special equipment or procedures that are proprietary. Or maybe it's a liability thing.

Local dealer performed the calibration on Sunday. All is good in the world now.

Did you get errors? I recently did a lift and after almost 2000 miles I havent gotten any errors. How did you know you needed a recalibration?

my windshield was replaced so it needed calibration. No errors. Adaptive cruise control and brake warning work.

So no errors after the new windshield either? Did you drive it for any length of time uncalibrated after replacement? Any weird behavior?

Sorry for all the questions, genuinely curious

Safelite Glass does the Recalibration on lifted units without any problem and they issue you a certificate of recalibration when done.

@McSpazatron Understand you're not asking me. That said, here's my 2c worth(spend it or donate it;) your choice it's free). Toyota says. Must be recalibrated after windshield replacement. Why? It's highly unlikely the camera will be within tolerances after being fitted to the new windshield(whatever that tolerances is?). Post lift? If you've put 2K plus(while having the system fully engaged) without a problem, then it's likely the lift didn't upset anything.

    Edit:
2021 OM pages 254 thru 263 will help give insight to the strengths and weaknesses of the system. Thought mine was acting up - until I found those pages of insight.

no errors. And I didn’t notice anything. However I wasn’t in a situation where I needed it. I could of tested the adaptive cruise control but I didn’t think of that until after the calibration.

I would not let safelite touch any vehicle I own lol.

Good info, thanks. My 2ks worth of driving has not included cruise control use. I’ll have to try that out to see if it throws any errors or pitches me into the backside of a truck.

How much did they charge for the calibration if I may ask?

$420 and came with a loaner while they performed the service. Insurance is reimbursing me.

My dealer charged me $350 for the calibration after replacing my windscreen as well. Also reimbursed by insurance.

    Cheers,
