Greetings, My rear window stopped functioning and the rear wiper started having a mind of its' own at startup. I looked at the wiring in the rubber flex cover in the upper left corner and there are a few wires broken. What is the best way to reconnect them and was wondering if there are other electrical issues that are common with the 3rd gen. I have a slow battery drain also.
    Thanks for your feedback.

I think the rear hatch is about the most typical electrical issue on a 3rd gen that will happen to everyone eventually. Otherwise, everything else is just badly installed aftermarket junk or bad luck.

On the battery drain...You will need to isolate the battery drain. 99% of the time aftermarket electronics is the cause of a drain. Cheap Radios, GPS, touch screens, light bars, etc etc etc. Otherwise, you can check for voltage drops at the fuses to find the circuit. Plenty of youtube videos on how to do that.

It has an aftermarket security system that can be a PITA. I may try to deactivate it and see if it clears up. Unfortunately electrical diagnosis is not my forte. YouTube is my classroom.

I removed the aftermarket security system from a Mazda. I went online, found the manual, learned what the installation entailed and reversed it. Had to buy standard key fobs as the security system came with its own. Actually the car came with only a key... So I needed fobs anyways.
