I've seen ppk saying to replace the ecu unit to fix my rear hatch from not opening my problem is I can't figure out how to open the hatch manually to work on the unit, I there a secret word like opensaysme or what lol. Does anyone have any advice or tips to open the rear hatch manually in my 06 4runner?

You have to pull the fuse matching to the hatch. Leave it out for about 30 seconds and the put it back in and put the cover back on. Then lock and unlock your 4Runner and pop the rear hatch. Worked for me when it wasn’t opening up either.

    Just a couple
There's also a small trim piece that comes off that enables the user to unlock the hatch from the inside...I bought an Amazon version of the hatch lock "ecu"/motor and it worked great... the whole job took maybe 20 minutes and I've had zero issues for over a year.

As always, do the least expensive "fix" first! What @808-dirty4runner suggests, I'd try first!
