How do I get this to apart?
I’ve been using a rubber mallet
Block of pine and a hammer
Put some heat to it - all the studs came out but 1 broke off and 4 stayed in place
Been spraying PB too it- doesn’t seem to be making any progress

Do the studs need to come out for it to separate? If they are threaded through the housing and the diff cover you'll need to remove them all.

To get out studs you can weld a nut onto them and twist them out (heat them before). Broken ones that can't be welded might have to be drilled.

HAVE YOU PULLED THE AXLE SHAFTS OUT?
You have to unbolt the 4 bolts on the end of the housing and pull the axle shafts out about 3" on each end before the chunk will come out.

Axle shafts are out and the studs just run through the carrier assembly and only thread into the axle tube. Only the nuts and washers were to come off leaving the studs in place - however most simply unscrewed and the one nut failed to release to the stud and when I used the wrench it simply twisted off. The stud that broke off I attempted to use a easy out and surprisingly it twisted off in the stud and now with part of it imbedded into the stud it’s not letting me redrill it out (too hard) so may have to weld a washed and bolt to the stud.

I've used an oscillating tool to get a small slot and then follow up with a cold chisel. It is possible to break a piece off if you get very aggressive.
Try working around the housing, not just one spot. It will mark up the housing and carrier but that can be cleaned up with a sanding disk and gasket maker.
