I have a '95 and it looks almost as if the rear suspension is sagging a little bit, but it might just be the torsion bars. In all honesty, I have no idea if it's supposed to be an inch or two lower than the front but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.

If it is oem then i would say at a minimum you need new springs, i would do shocks also. And no it is not supposed to be lower in the rear.

It is possible that someone previously twisted the torsion bars to get a little more lift out of them but the rear on these are known to sag over time. Its a common, easy to fix problem.

Mine had sag when i bought it. I put 2 inch coil spacers in the back and it leveled it out perfect.

Shouldn’t be lower. Most likely time to replace rear suspension.

I put Dayco 1-1/4" poly urethane spacers on top of the OEM springs along with some SkyJacker M95 mono-tube shocks. This has leveled out the front to back distance from the fender to the ground to be 36 inches at the front and 35-1/2 to 35-3/4 at the rear depending on fuel tank level. New 31x10.5-R15 Cooper Discoveries are the tires. Before the spacer the rear was at 34 and change and did look as though things were sagged. I have not changed the rear brake biasing arm and so far stopping seems the same although with the lift the pressure to the rear brakes should be decreased with all else being the same!
