I am replacing all the bearings in the rear end and was hoping someone had the factory specs for the backlash, pre load and any other specified torque Numbers

I drive a 1995 4 runner with the 3.0 and it has four wheel drive if that helps

Go to Suspension and Axle, Rear Differential-Differential Carrier, in the FSM you will find all of the information to rebuild the rear carrier.

You will need a magnetic base stand with a dial indicator to be able to accurately read and set the gear backlash. I highly recommend recording the as-is backlash before you take it apart. If you pull the pinion shaft this will get a whole lot more complicated!... A press and bearing crush will most likely be required to remove and set the new bearings. In addition a shim kit may be needed if the new bearings fail to position the pinion in the same place as before the replacement was initiated. This is not likely but the bearing spacer on the pinion shaft can be a problem with new bearings and without shims the preload can be hard to obtain. Marlin Crawler for axle seals and pinion shaft seals, the only way to go!
