I had the idea of mounting an aluminum Molle panel to the back of the rear seat for storage if an AR-15 and a shotgun. It would attach at the top to the headrest bars and would attach at the bottom to the child seat anchors under the rear seat via some type of strap. I would rarely have the need to lower the rear seats but if I did, the panel would be easy to remove.

I have a similar setup behind the rear seat if my Tacoma although mounted differently and it works great.

    I found this at greymantactical.com.

Has anyone tried something like this?

That’s a good idea too. I was not sure that there would be under seat storage in the rear as I have not yet taken delivery of the vehicle. I am lining up all of the mods that I will make/have made as soon as I get it. Thanks for the pics.

Whoa! thats rad. So it fits neatly in there and the seats lock in? what kind of mounting hardware or does it sit snug from the seats. Can you remove the AR with just lifting the single seat? (i have a car seat in the middle 99% of the time)

Being left handed, I prefer having both seats unlocked, and the AR15 pistol positioned how it is above with 6 mag bandoleer.

If you leave out the bandoleer and dont have a forearm mounted weapon light - putting the AR15 pistol or rifle in the below position will allow both seats to lock down. Pulling up on the 1/3 seat - allows you to easily pull out your AR.

Note if you're paranoid, you could loop a cable lock through the magwell, out the ejection port, and around one of the seat legs.

I like carrying it this way when I don't have any place to be:

With both seat bottoms unlocked, I can get a cased / unloaded rifle under there. Just leave the end of the case partially unzipped.
