I have a 98 4runner 3.4 manual transmission with a 4.10 axle ratio. I am looking to change the rear axle assembly.

I have been looking at parts but can't find an axle assembly from a donor vehicle with manual transmission. In addition, I wanted to take advantage of the situation and get an axle assembly with Elocker.
I am changing the axle assembly due to excessive rust that was built up over the years before I purchased the vehicle.

Question is, can I use an axle assembly with 4.10 ratio from an automatic transmission vehicle?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes to your question. The axel doesn’t care if it’s a manual or automatic. The issue is the 4.10 elocker is exceedingly rare. Most will be 4.30, and I think all automatic elocker diffs are 4.30. It may be easier to find a 4.30 and matching 4.30 front diff and just swap out your front diff at the same time. Also be aware to get the pigtails with the elocker, there will be some wiring to do if yours didn’t come with one.

    good luck!

Agreed. The axle doesn't care about about the transmission. And also the vast vast majority of e-lockers came in Limited models with 4.30 gears. Get both diffs from a wrecked Limited or just find a cheap 4.10 and install an aftermarket locker.

Thank you @roboturner and @BLKNBLU for the info.
Knowing that I can use a diff from an automatic vehicle, opens a lot of options for me.

As rare as elockers in 4.10 diff ratio, I was able to find one. Hopefully, I can come to an agreement with the owner and find the time to drive 12 hours to get it picked up.

If not, I am going with your recommendation and get both front and rear differential with 4.30 gear ratio
