Hey Guys, My 1995 4runner 3.0 V6 Manual 4x4 has had the rear anti lock light on since I bought it from the owner. He said its been on forever and he just left it. I recently took it to an auto shop to get some stuff repaired and the documented the light just for precaution but it had me wondering.. What does this light mean? How can I fix it? Is it okay? I've been driving for more than a couple thousand miles with it on.

Directly from the manual: When the rear-wheel anti-lock brake system warning light is on (and the brake system light is off), the brake system operates conventionally but without anti-lock function. There is an issue with your anti-lock system.

I’m no help. Have the same issue, finally just pulled the bulb from the instrument panel. I’ve visually inspected everything, I’ve also tried panic stopping and have not been able to get the rear brakes to lockup.

My last trip to pick a part I got lucky, someone ripped the whole dash out and left the anti lock module sitting so 2 screws and in the bag it went. Wether it was luck or not I won’t know until I pull the dash apart again and install it, see what happens.

Attached are a few pages from the FSM and it looks like you can check the codes stored in the rear anti-lock ECU.
