Several times now, I've read mention of swapping RAV4 outside mirrors into the Gen5 4Runner housings, in order to get the convex wide-angle portion. I like this idea a lot.

In one particular thread, part numbers 87931-42D50 and -42D20 are mentioned. When I look up those part numbers, there's mention in the description of "without blind spot." My Gen5 does have the blind spot / cross traffic monitors, so I'm thinking those part numbers aren't the ones I would need. A video I saw earlier today mentions 87931-0R210 and -0R220. I looked those up, and they still don't seem correct.

I surfed Rock Auto for a moment this morning and found their PN TO1325143, but there's no reference in its description to an actual Toyota part number. Procrastinating responsibility a bit more, I found at Parts Geek PN 170563-06395579, which references Toyota PN 87931-42E50. That seems right for BSM but there's not mention of a matching left-hand version and the picture doesn't look at all correct. Looking that up at autoparts.toyota.com, it comes up at roughly $150 and its description isn't super detailed.

Evidently there are a ton of variations of this mirror, and some are even specific to North American- or Japanese-built vehicles. Surfing the catalogs I can find online, I've yet to find what seems to be the right thing.

Anyone got a lead on BSM-compatible mirrors for the swap? Thank you.

Here is the thread where I listed mine.

My new 2024 TRD ORP does have the BSM system. I actually went to replace the mirrors with these and discovered that they won't work with the BSP system. My advice is that you look closely at your mirrors and see if they have the little etchings on them of the vehicle front (or whatever it is). I suppose it's possible that they are there, just turned off.

Here is the install video I linked in the post above

If you don't have the BSM system, they are the best thing since sliced bread. An absolute game changer on the freeway.

I don't have or need these mirrors, but am curious - wouldn't the 2024 Rav4 models that these mirrors are for also offer the BSM feature?

All I know is that these part numbers were shared here and I bought them from Olathe and put them on. I didn't ask or care what year model RAV4 they were for. They were on my 2021 the entire time I owned it and I even took them off and replaced the OEM ones before I traded it in, thinking I would put them on my 2024. Of course, then I learned that my 2024 has BSM and they won't work.

The mini corner mirror is on vehicles that don't have the BSM system. Those that have it just have full mirrors.

IMO the little mirror is infinitely more useful.

    Yes, it does!
    Thank you all.

Heck, now I want to get one and try to etch the BSM symbol out of the coating. I’m betting there’s simply an LED behind there.

Because I took one off of my 2024 when I thought I could put the RAV mirrors on, I can tell you there’s a different wire connector that has the sensor and light in it for the BSM. If you don’t have BSM, the wire for the defogger will plug right in on the RAV mirror, you just have to rotate it 90 degrees. It took longer for me to go get paper towels and glass cleaner to clean them after install than the actual install took. And I did it on a friends Limited also.

Thank you for the additional information, Beachguy.

Different connector makes for a whole different problem. I understand better now.

Different connectors as in just 2 separate or that the defroster connector is different on BSM vs non-BSM mirrors?

I can’t answer that, sorry. When I saw the difference in the connector I put it right back on. If there were 2 separate connectors I didn’t see that but didn’t really look for a second either.
