For my first inquiry, I wanted to ask about radiator caps. I can't find any information about the technicals of it. I wanted to know what BAR it is rated at. I have noticed in some of the posts that some are using TRD radiator caps, which if im correct, have a higher pressure rating. Is anyone having any issues related to higher-than-factory pressures like blowing off hoses or anything of that sort?

I would be reluctant to use a cap with a pressure rating higher than stock. We are fortunate with modern cars, they don’t seem to overheat like older cars.

Someone would have to actually experience an overheat event to test the higher pressure TRD radiator cap theory.

I want to use an aftermarket radiator cap that utilizes a silicone seal instead of rubber. However I need to know the BAR rating. You wouldn't happen to know what that is would you? 1.1, 1.3...

I have a Limited. Is it the same as the TRD Pro? Is the thermostat the same too?

The OEM (regardless of trim) is 1.1, specifically 108kPa or 1.08 bar, as written on the OEM radiator cap. The TRD radiator cap is 1.3 bar. No trim comes stock with a TRD radiator cap from factory.

I don't have difinitve proof about the thermostat, but I'd be willing to bet a paycheck every 4.0L in the 4Runner gets the exact same thermostat.

I was looking at a TRD radiator cap, but I don't think I can justify $47. It sounds great in description, but it's a $7 radiator cap with a $40 TRD sticker on. Might be good low speed off road. I don't want to list a $47 radiator cap on my mods.

I used a Radium Engineering. Nowhere near the cost of a TRD, and it uses a silicone instead of a rubber seal.
