Yesterday Imgur announced that all photos not posted with an account (photos that were posted anonymously) will be scrubbed. You have until May 15, 2023 to repost your old photos before Imgur scrubs them off the internet. Here is their post.

This retroactive application of new rules to old photos is something image hosting sites cant seem to resist, and what this means for this forum is another photobucket like Armageddon of broken links to images is about to occur. It seems like the old adage of "the internet never forgets" only applies to information you wish it would forget.

Anyway, if you care about your threads and want them to remain useful, I suggest going back through your post history, downloading any images if you since deleted them, and repost and relink them on a stable site. You can do this by right clicking your photo and selecting "save image as..."

I'm posting this on general for greater visibility. If you want to do what I said, remember you have until May 15, 2023. After that any photos not linked to an Imgur account will disappear from their site and thus this site too. Inevitably not everyone will take action, and forums will be full of no context discussions.

If you have an account with imgur and posted photos on it, this does not apply to you. It only applies to people who posted photos without being signed into an account.

Your post headline reads like click bait, if I understand what you're saying? Not all Imgur photos are being lost, just those anonymous posts?

If you don't have an account and used it to host pics say bye bye.

If you have an account good to go.

Yes, if you have an account your photos will be fine. But you didn't need an account to post for a long time, so people (myself included) would upload photos since you didn't need to bother with a login and password every time you posted photos (which I called a guest account). I don't care if they want to require an account or change the photo policy, but it would be nice if they'd grandfather the old images in since that was a huge selling point of the platform.
