I've driven my 2020 Limited for approximately 28,000km give or take. It's now sitting at around 48,000km(30,000mi). Thus far, I've had my breaks fail in the highway because one of the break pads was finished and the PS fluid started leaking from the rear right caliper (32,000km). Now, at around 47,000km my PS Pump went out, and my steering rack is toast according to the dealership.

I've been driving my car through very aggressive trails on a daily basis, and have also been taking it to the race track around 2-3 times per week. I've been doing the normal fluid maintenance recommended by Toyota but believe given my driving style and use for the car, it's not going to last me long at this rate. My muffler looks like it was attacked by a mob with baseball bats.

I have decided to invest in the following in order to increase my car's longevity and resale value in the future:

    - PS Cooler
    - Skid Plates for Transmission (Only have OEM + front TRD at the moment)
    - Skid Plates for Diffs

Additionally, I have decided to modify my maintenance schedule to include the following:

    - Engine Oil change every 4000km (2500mi)
    - Diff Oil change every 30,000km (19,000mi)
    - Tranny Oil change every 30,000km (19,000mi)
    - Grease drive shaft every 16,000km (10,000mi)

    - Coolant flush every 45,000km (28,000mi)
    - PS flush every 25,000km(15,600mi)

    - New front break pads every 25,000km (15,600mi)
    - New rear break pads ever 35,000km (21,900mi)

I'll be performing the oil changes myself, and thus the price of doing it more often is greatly reduced. I was wondering what you guys think I am missing in terms of maintenance, and what you guys would add as a mod, to improve longevity. Gas mileage isn't a concern.

EDIT: I just did all of the above maintenance at 48,000km(except PS flush). The new intervals would apply from now on.

If you're beating it up that much on the trail, maybe you need to buy a dedicated trail rig that's more durable.

And what do you mean by "taking it to the racetrack" ?

My 2013 has 156k miles (251,000km) and has had none of those failures.

It sounds like you're pushing your 4R past what it was designed to do.

Engine oil with increased HTHS, diff oils may need changing ever time taken through puddle or stream.

All of that seems excessive. Also what mall track?

Sounds like the vehicle is being used harder than it should be. I doubt increasing maintainance schedules will help much in your situation. If you are going to use it that hard, just save your money for outright replacement of parts as you break them.

Actual legit race cars don’t do track-days as often as you do, so brakes lasting 30k miles sounds like a miracle. You should be more attentive to the condition of the brakes if you are racing it, especially for the safety of others on the highway. By design, brake pads make a squealing noise when they are low…that’s when you should replace them. Don’t wear them out to the point your brake pistons are basically popping out and leaking fluid.

Bashed muffler? Are you just not seeing the rocks and stuff on the trail? Or is it full-send all the time? It’s ok not to take your runner over stuff that will rip things out. Driving aggressively on trails like they do on TV commercials is pretty much fake. Nobody does that because you’ll break a lot of things and that costs a lot of money.

A trail rig that you can easily work on yourself, as suggested, is probably the ticket for you.

Unless you have loads disposable money and no time to lose…then all the more power to ya!!! Sincerely! But the brakes, and anything else regarding roadworthyness… keep a close eye on that stuff so you don’t end up hurting someone else!
