So i was about to attempt fuel filter replacement, went to unhook battery and accidentally touched my ratchet to something on the engine causing the battery to spark and now it wont start. Could i have fried the starter? Ive already checked all the fuses/relays and they're fine.
Okay so I was just testing the starter relay again with a cheap circuit tester connected to the negative terminal of the battery and when I touch the relay it tries to start but nothing happens when I turn the key

Fuses, start with fuses, If you sparked something that would be the first to bare the brunt of the grounding.

That was my 1st guess also, but ive checked all fuses and the starter relay. The relay clicks when i turn the key but thats thats it, i also tried tapping on the starter while trying to start it but no dice. Im stumped

"when I touch the relay it tries to start"....what does that mean? When you activate the starter relay with the circuit tester, the starter engages and cranks the engine over? If so, the starter is fine and the relay is fine. You messed up something between the ignition switch and the starter relay.

Did you check the COR relay?

Edit: Actually the COR relay doesn't affect cranking I think. Just fuel.

Yes Negusm, when I was trying to test the relay I had the little aligator clamp connected to the (negative, i think. I cant remember now) battery terminal and touched the tester to the relay and to my Surprise the engine tried to crank,( which surprised me so I kind of jumped and lost the connection and didnt get to see if it would actually turn over) cuz when I tried it again after that it wouldnt do it again so I don't know what the hell!? what is the COR I'm not even sure what that is

I tried to hook up the OBD reader but it didn't give me any information so either the guy i got it from erased everything, if that's even possible, or the reader I have is just a piece of crap and doesn't work

Fusible links are the big fuses in the fuse box, usually rated 100 amp that looks something like this pics

Oh ok, i didn't realize thats what they were called, thanks for the education. But no i couldnt figure out how to test them with the cheap tester i have. All the smaller fuses were good, i could test those with it because they have those little copper or brass dots on the top i could touch with the metal tip of the meter, but the fuseable links dont and i didn't wanna damage something trying to poke it through the plastic housing. How can i safely test them?

I probably need a multimeter huh? Instead of a cheap $5 circuit tester
