Hi! I'm looking into buying a used 4runner. The one I am eyeing at the moment is a 2014 Trail Premium Sport 4d. It is a little over 21k and 146k miles on it. Car fax shows 1 owner.

Is this a good deal? I don't want to rush into a purchase, but I'm also in dire need of a new vehicle. It will be my daily, as well as my weekend adventure vehicle for trips.

    I'd appreciate any advice!

    KBB has it around 13-18k

The general consensus here will be it's too expensive. Get a pre-purchase inspection and if it checks out. Spend your money how it best fits you! Don't be afraid to shop around a little before committing.

Seems like too much money for something that old and with that many miles

So your budget is important and mileage is doubly important. It is said a lot of runner owners use them as a daily driver and may perform same maintenance that a Camry requires, but never service all the 4WD components. The runner treated this way may survive mall cruising on only engine oil changes. But after 75,000 miles there can be serious wear. A complete maint. history showing timely services of diffs, propeller shafts & transfer case is needed to confirm you are getting a reliable runner.

I think best deal out there for Toyota SUV is the GX and it’s full time 4x4 as opposed to the 2x4 4x4.

The general consensus is less relevant for today's market when Toyota raised the new equivalent price by about 10k last year when the 6tth gen pricing was announced

welcome. But definitely agree with the others on pre purchase inspection , but a deal is as good as YOU think it is. If you've looked around and seen what's out there for that price, cool.

It's 11 years old. Prepare to drop another $5k into it replacing worn out parts, though likely not everything will need immediate attention. Therefore get something on the low-mid end of KBB value.

They are good deals until you have to fix cracked exhaust manifolds, or cam tower leaks, or rear A/C leaks, or blown height-adjustable air shocks, or...

Those things also have more computers and electronics than 6th gen 4Runners.

Welcome from Wisconsin! Move on, the right deal is probably not 3,000 above KBB.
