This reminds me of a government buy back of my guns. I will absolutely sell half of my AR15 rifles. They’re gonna run the government about $40K each. But hey, I’m in for half of them.

I considered it a few months ago to go from my 2020 Off Road to a ORP, but just couldn't make the deal work the way I wanted it to go. If they came back and offered the deal I want, sure.

Yes, been thinking of trading for a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for my trail runs. Thinking of diesel with extended warranty + mopar lift . Still didn't pull the trigger yet. Worried about reliability.

(Last time when I test drive my kiddo didn't have much room with the big car seat. Now she is on booster seat and I bet she would have enough space.

I'd like to think this is the last truck I'll buy. Not that I'm going to go room temperature any time soon, but I tend to keep vehicles I like a long time. I also don't care for the trend of vehicle development. I will say that I'm watching the Rivian SUV's pretty closely though. I'm not emotionally attached to the Runner so if something good pops up, I'd probably sell the Runner.

    I got offered MSRP for my 2020 4runner SR5 with 20,000 miles.
I considered it until I found that there is nothing on the lots that I could buy as my daily driver, so I'm keeping the 4 runner.
The chip shortage is really killing the car dealers, they have nothing to sell..... except overpriced used vehicles

Given the resale value on these things, it does get a little tempting to trade for a newer model, but I'm used to keeping a vehicle for 8-10 years. The 4Runner is certainly a candidate for that. more likely, I'll pass mine on to my younger son when he goes to college in a couple years and use that as an 'excuse" to buy a later model one

If the rear window on the GX460 rolled down I'd trade mine for one of those in a second. Still sort of tempted to since the prices seem nearly the same for the same year and milage.

I will for sure sell sooner than later. Not that I don't like the 4R I just have a thing for new cars.

We have not kept one for more than 6 years.

I’ve had a lifelong habit of thoroughly researching and making a very reasoned decision in buying a new car, then thinking I’ll keep it a long time, then becoming dissatisfied and trading it in within a couple years for something very different. But I swear I’ve learned the error of my ways. I finally figured out my strategy was all wrong. The real solution is to build up a fleet — with an awesome super useful and reliable vehicle like the 4Runner as the mainstay.

Unlike most of my other rides, the longer I’ve had the 4Runner the more I like it. In the recent madness I coulda sold it for what I paid total OTD, but wasn’t even tempted. I’m just going to add on. A real sports car next prob. Then maybe an EV. I imagine that 4Runners will be well represented in that small contingent of ICE vehicles still running when most everyone has switched to electric.

I get attached to my cars if they are good. Had a 06 Sienna since new, and sold it to get the 4runner this year. Also had a 1999 Accord since new…that one went to the great highway in the sky a few weeks ago (still running, just not worth the maintainance it needed).

So far the 4runners is too sweet to think about selling it. I love the vehicle, and what you can do with it. It just ticks every box. Little disappointed I’ll have to deal with the needle bearing issue, but I’ve been spoiled by my previous vehicles, which were essentially flawless. The fix should be an easy one anyway.

This vehicle treated me the best out of every one I had. So nah.

1999 Passat (Horrible POS that I wish I can attach some C4 to and remote det the hell out of it) to 2006 Honda Civic Si (Great) to 2012 370z (Disappointingly high maintenance) to 2017 Honda Accord EXL (Great) and now to my 2021 Sexy Beast.

Other than the Passat, I got really good offers from the new owners before trading up!

In this crazy world I sold one of my 2019 Limited's and my 2019 TRD OR for original MRSP to Carvana. About $9k more than I paid back for them out the door in 2019. I then purchased a 2021 TRD ORP for MRSP from my local dealer. Getting a 2021 ORP has been a nice upgrade to the 2019 OR that I had.

I never trade in vehicles. I buy new then sell the old to a private party when the time is right. I get a better deal that way. I’ll keep this one for at least 10 years.

We've got one more payment on our 4R and we're going to keep it for quite a while. But with my wife's crappy knees and hips, we'll be looking for a sedan or hatchback with a lower door threshold.
Possibly a Hybrid or EV for mostly local and short day tripping.
And since my TJ has a 36" door sill, its not been the vehicle of choice for us went dirt cruising.
I've joined a Subaru forum to lurk there for pros & cons since she has expressed interest in them.
Other appropriate vehicles are, of course, Toyota's and Honda's.
GM (Chevrolet) is a maybe. But definitely not FoMoCo or FCA. They were the worst POS's that our former jobs bought as fleet vehicles.

For what it's worth, you two might check out the Honda Passport. My wife loves the 4Runner but loves the Passport more. She really likes the storage options and ergonomics. eg the nice flat center console with the sliding lid that reveals a really big cubby. She likes that you sit high and it feels SUV-like, yet it's definitely lower and easier to get into than the 4Runner. The hatch area is also much lower and easier to load. Has a lot of nice convenience features that no 4Runner has, including the Limited. Things like a power liftgate. I like that it's fast -- and the engine sounds good doing it. 0-60 in the 5s, believe it or not. And it's almost as big inside as the 4R. And gets much better (though still SUV-ish) MPG on regular gas. Also, I like that its mechanicals are shared with the Ridgeline, which has a good reputation for reliability and durability. It's got a real and proven V6, no turbo.

Personally, I much prefer driving my Limited because I like that old-school truck feel. And I'd certainly trust it more for the long haul. And of course its 4WD system and suspension are better suited to rough use. But I think the Passport might be a really good choice for someone who likes the 4R but has too much trouble getting in and out of it.

Further, I've had several Subarus and think the brand brings a lot to the table. The new Wilderness edition of the Outback is very appealing. But the CVTs seem to be a weak point. And quality generally is only average. So I don't think Subaru is that obvious a choice over American brands. Personally, I'd focus on Toyota and Honda if reliability is a top concern.

Thank you. Your opinion means a lot and well worth checking out. I'll join a Honda forum too.
    My only experience with Honda's was in my pre-teen years with the Mini-Trails, 50 & 70 cc's.

Ha, remember those. And the Taco 22 minibikes, Hodaka Wombat....

Option... duh. Opinion, its been a long time since I was in skool.
