    Hello All,
Has anyone mounted their fire/police scanner in the 4R? Just looking for ideas where to mount both the scanner and antenna. Gen 5 if that makes a difference.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

Hi, thanks for the response. I just have a Bearcat Uniden BC355N. Right now in the house but I did have it in my Tundra for a bit. Just picked up a '22 SR5 Premium so looking to waste money, etc.....:)

haha understood! i have a bct7 that i picked up at a garage sale. i havent messed with it yet, but one of these days. i have an old radio shack pro 95 handheld which i like, but so many agencies in my area have moved to digital encryption that there isnt a ton to listen to anymore.

Aren't scanners pretty much obsolete? I would think most agencies frequencies are either trunked or encrypted.

I've been thinking about this in regards to mounting small radio.

No they're not. You can still get trunked scanners. You can't get encrypted. Bigger cities may be encrypted but not the little ones where I live.

in a way yes mostly due to encryption. depends on where you live and your interests. i can listen to local fire departments near me and some places i travel to. good amount of marine and air traffic as well if that is your thing.

Depends on what area you are in and what technology is used. Most modern scanners can handle the majority of trunking formats, but obviously not encryption.

I like to have a scanner on in the backcountry for situational awareness. Most of the radio traffic is still conventional VHF-FM with a little P25 digital, and conventional UHF. I also monitor aircraft which is VHF/UHF AM.

My scanner is a Uniden 325P2 or Uniden BC 125-AT. I still haven't found an acceptable mounting solution, so I just set it in the forward cup holder. I really wish Uniden would make a scanner (scanners) with a detachable front panel so the radio box could go under a seat and the control head/speaker would be easy to mount.
