I have never posted either of my previous 4Runners, just my current one. I figured what the hell, I’ll post some pics of the other ones since pics are always good right. Well, unfortunately, I really couldn’t find much so I’m posting what I have.

    1) 2006 SR5
    2) 2010 Limited
    3) 2022 SR5

Why did you go from a limited to an SR5?

Great question. I absolutely loved my Limited except for 1 reason, one of the XREAS shocks blew out. I discovered it while getting new tires, the tech pointed out a “weeping” shock at 60k miles. I couldn’t tell a difference in the ride so I rolled with it so to speak.

At 80k I started to notice a degradation in the ride so I got a quote for repair/replacement. I was quoted about $4k. That’s when I started to do some suspension research. This was around 2017. I learned about Bilstein 5100’s which led to 6112’s which led to Kings and all of the others.

During a routine oil change at the dealership (Toyota of Kendall in Miami) I was informed that I had an “oil leak deep in the engine” and was quoted about $5k in repairs. So in facing an engine repair and suspension replacement, I decided to get rid of the Limited. This was late 2018. Enter an Acura RDX with 4k miles.

At this time I was commuting to and from work from Miami to Titusville Fl. I would drive to Tville every Sunday night and return to Miami every Friday night, about 500 miles every weekend. The Acura was excellent for this.

I finally moved my family up to Tville during the Covid shutdown and was no longer commuting. I knew I needed another 4Runner as I never quite felt the RDX was a good fit, especially since I wasn’t doing so many highway miles.

Wrapping up, after the issues with the Limited, I knew that when I got another 4Runner I would get a base model and immediately build it into exactly the truck I wished the Limited could have been. There are a few small features that the Limited had that the SR5 doesn’t have, heated seats, garage door opener, JBL stereo, dual climate control, but in the end, I could live without these things. Same reliability with upgraded suspension on my new one and I could happily live without the rest.

At the end of the day, I’m back in a 4Runner which makes me super happy. I love this platform and I love how my new one is turning out.

Thanks. That’s my youngest daughter on her 1st fishing trip out on the west side of Cape Canaveral.
