Hello everyone, first time poster here. My son is having issues with his 1997 4Runner window... It will roll down but it will not roll up, all window switches and regulators have been replaced. Heres the issue, he has taken it apart and swapped the up and down wires from the switch and when switched the window will up but not down. Again all switches have been replaced so now I am thinking maybe a broken wire somewhere? Are there any relays or modules that can be bad? Is everything ran off through the driver switch? we are stumped...

Passenger side window will roll down but not up from passenger switch, it wiring swapped it will roll up not down.
Passenger window does not work from driver side switch at all.
    All new motors and switches.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you!

I would urge you to locate/download the FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your year. For my 2002 I see that the Body ECU is in play. There are lots of wires and connections to check and the FSM for your year would have the correct wire colors and connections. It even has some troubleshooting hints.

I bought my FSM as a PDF off from ebay for $10 or you can hunt for an online download.

Often the culprit for most cars is in the harness between the door and the body. That harness flexes and the wires can break.

It does look like everything goes through the driver's switch at some point.
