Searching for a junkyard scooped hood, I found this website https://paintedautobodyparts.com/

First off whats the difference in capa and oem?

Anyone use this site? A painted scooped hood shipped to my door less the $800.

How can they match my paint without having the vehicle to blend it with?

Capa means that the parts conform to certified auto parts standards, basically they should look, and operate like OEM, but it doesn't say Toyota like OEM.

A proper paint job will involve blending paint to make it look good, otherwise your hood and fender will have a slight color difference, however different paint colors and age of vehicle may not necessitate blending panels.

I've never ordered a hood but I've heard to thoughougly inspect the parts on arrival, and to reject the parts if there is any damage prior to the delivery person leaving. I guess these panels getting damaged in transit is a possibility.

My 4runner is mgm so unsure its thats a easy one to match or not? But once we get back from vacation I'm going to order one, its $805 shipped to my door, and the other scoop parts can be found on ebay for cheap

I was thinking about trying this as well except from the other company I can't think of their name off. I guess I would be sending my gas cap

CAPA Certified is insurance company speak for "It's good enough for our bean counters, so it will be good enough for you." In my many years of experience with aftermarket vs. OEM parts, I still find OEM parts to be far superior to aftermarket. Yes, CAPA Certified parts are probably the best aftermarket parts you can get, but they're still not true OEM fit and finish. So why do the insurance companies push them? Because they cost less. Why do they cost less? Because you get what you pay for.

Here's a little side story on CAPA Certified vs. OEM parts. A few years ago, my son wrecked my 2006 Scion xB daily driver. My insurance company wanted to use all CAPA Certified parts and I balked. (I also had read my policy and knew they had to use OEM if I demanded it.) Several calls followed and we eventually compromised on a CAPA inner fender well and a few other non-critical parts with OEM for all of the visible / critical stuff. But they still wanted to use a CAPA Front Bumper Cover. So, I got them to agree that they could have the shop use one, but if it didn't pass my final inspection, they'd have to change it to an OEM one. The shop prepped and painted the CAPA part, then couldn't even get it to fit the car. This required them to procure, prep and paint an OEM one. I got what I wanted and the insurance company ate the CAPA part. Yea, I'd avoid CAPA Certified parts.

You ever try to put an aftermarket hood on any vehicle?

I wouldn't trust anything but OEM for that. Back in the day tried to fit one on my SS Trailblazer talk about PITA. Ended up good enough but not perfect.

I wouldn't waste my money on the fake hood scoop. I had one on my Pro and the hood fluttered. My current SR5P without one does not.

I'm slowly coming to realize, as much as I'd like to have one(just like how it looks), its useless... I guess I'll just put the money in the e locker fund:)

But this website also works for budget friendly painted replacement parts, bumpers and what not

I insist on only toyota’s finest authentic fake hoods scoops. Life is too short to waste time on imitating. Why pretend to be something you’re not?

If you want hood scoop performance that matches airflow, induction, and sun reflecting dynamics of OEM, then only OEM will do.

And nobody will convince me that aftermarket can match the jiggle of the OEM scooped hood.

Anyone notice that everyone with a scoop hates it and everyone without one wants to go to extreme lengths to get one?

Almost everyone. I like the useless scoop. There are an overwhelmingly larger amount of non-scoopers on the hood scoop thread that do want one, vs. those who want to ditch it for a flattie.
