    Hey guys

    Brand new.. howdy.

I got these codes the other day... my check engine light came on and i stopeed at Autozone and got these 2 codes. Has anyone experienced these with their 4th gen 4runners? I bought a scan tool... and will have it Sunday.. so i can at least check the sensors.. as this is a Bank 1 sensor 1 issue.

Im just looking for some insight if anyone experienced this before... im hoping its something as simple as a sensor replacement.

    Thanks guys

    J

First question is what year and what engine do you have? Also, how many miles?

I'd first check the basics, such as is your air filter in need of replacement and is the MAF clean?
Is there a cracked vacuum hose anywhere? There aren't many vacuum hoses to check on 4th gens, V6 or V8.
    Is the throttle body clean?
Are the O2 sensors intact and plugged in or are the plugs fouled in some way with oil or water?

It could be as simple as just needing to replace the O2 sensors or just the MAF or it could be a failed injector or fuel pressure regulator, which is vacuum operated.

    Hi there

So i purchased a scan tool. The 2195 code didnt come up this time.. instead i get a P2238 and the original P0171 .. P2238 is 02 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low bank 1 sensor 1

So from what I read its either the sensor or the wiring... or the computer .. which is much more rare.

The strange part is ... the current on the sensor is strong at 3.3 and is reactive to snap throttle ... working just like the other one in the front.

Worth it to replace it blind? EVer encounter that before? From what I read its pretty straight forward.

Just looking for a plan of action.. I just want to know what im dealing with.

    Thanks

    J

Never worth throwing parts hoping they fix.

Where are you get the 3.3 from? The scan tool? Can you check the voltage at the o2?
