My brother found this 96 4Runner for sale. The seller is asking $9000. It has 260K miles and is in pretty good shape. The frame looks good and the interior is nice as well. Any opinions? Is 9000 fair?

I (we) have a 2000 4Runner. I have no idea about "dollar" value. But if you like it, and can negotiate for a price that you're happy with, I'm fairly certain that you'll never be unhappy with this machine. Ours has identical mileage and it seems to want to run forever. Parts & modification options seem endless. Good luck.

Maintenance up to date? Timing belt? Fluid changes? Brakes? Any accidents?
Is 9k fair to you? That's the real question.

Absolutely correct. Timing belt is no small issue on this thing. We changed ours about 5,000 miles ago, along with every dynamic component and seal associated with it. Agree with Nevin, and if all his questions are answered in the good column, you've got a very good chance at a long living 3rd gen

you can't put a price on pleasure...I paid 7k, for my '97 limited. 250k..I'm now pushing 300k on her...and just recently replaced the timing belt..so she's good for another couple of years..9k, ain't bad...but 7-8k, might be a better purchase...as long as it's fairly rust free on the frame, it's a worthwhile purchase...in my opinion

If you're willing to pay $9k then it's fair.

All it takes is one buyer.

Yes, Need to spray some CRC 656 on that intake and corrosion. I’m gonna do mine better when I get it back, it lubes but dries.

Is it the same story for 4th gen 4runner with V8 and GX470? Or due to lack of space its even worse for V8?
