Maybe a goofy question, maybe common sense, maybe I'm overthinking, but its my first car with a factory warranty. I changed the oil at 5k, 10k seemed way too long on a new engine, along with the rest of the 5k service. Sitting at 9005 right now and I've got a 1100+ mi roadtrip this weekend. Does getting off schedule allow me to go over 10k without opening myself up to voiding the warranty, or do I have to get that 10k service done before going over? I wont go all the way to 15k, just more like 10,500.

You’re overthinking it. You’ll be fine.

I changed our oil at 1000 and 5000, but just got back from a road trip to Ouray Colorado. Sitting at 10,600 now. I will do oil change today, still under warranty. As said before. You are fine.

5k miles oil change for severe usage, 10k for normal. Don’t over think it.

One last thing to clarify, I'm not sweating this interval or thinking I'm causing any damage. But say something goes out at 2xxxx miles. Is the 10k service being done at 10,400 enough for Toyota to try voiding my warranty?

If you changed the oil at 5k, then you have till 15k. And Toyota may use anything they can to deny a claim. But 400 miles over 10k, I think would be a hard sell to deny a claim on.
