    I switch to 255/75/17 DuraTrac's on OEM steel wheels for the winter. They are awesome in the snow and also handle sloppy shoulder season conditions without having to worry about burning up snow tires when it gets warmer.

    These are the absolute gold standard of snow tires. Best you can buy, by all accounts.

    That being said, I have Michelin X-Ice on my wife's Outback. They're so good. They seem to defy physics. I really can't imagine anything being a whole lot better.
