    There's a guy here in Phoenix selling his OEM rock sliders from his 2023 ORP. Anybody know if they will fit 2018 TRD Offroad with KDSS? Are they any good? The welds for the brackets to interior tube appear un-gusseted. Thx

    OEM rock sliders are not as strong as aftermarket. Better protection than a predator step. I have a buddy that pulled the OEM sliders after some hits and went aftermarket.

    OP I think they will fit KDSS. This is what I see:
    4Runner must be 2015-2024 year range

    4Runner cannot have XREAS

    4Runner cannot be a Limited trim

    The stock sliders appear to be good quality, from what I've seen. They support the weight of the vehicle. That's the first test. I think they are well-made and provide exactly the protection I want, without sticking out too far or being larger than necessary. It'd be my first pick.

    Agreed! A nice compromise from the factory and reasonably priced. As noted, they are not as heavy duty as the aftermarket options, but I don't need anything that heavy duty and I don't want to carry around unnecessary weight. It's there just in case, not for frequent banging on rocks. I also didn't need anything with a step so I didn't want anything sticking out that I needed to step out over. For me, they are a perfect solution and look good.

    They will fit around KDSS. I had them on my 2021. I’d be willing to bet the threaded holes in the frame haven’t changed year to year

    If you plan on using them for mild off-roading they will be fine. There is a video on Youtube of someone "testing" them in a garage, jacking them up and they flex pretty easily. Not sure how well they would do if your tires slipped and the weight of the truck came down on them forcefully. If you plan on getting into some serious rocks out here in the Az desert I'd recommend and aftermarket brand like Westcott or RCI, plenty of other manufactures out there as well.

    That's funny, the video I've seen on YouTube shows very little flex from the OEM rock rails when jacking on them. Regardless, agreed that they best suited for mild wheeling. I would drag these across the Rubicon.

    I'm more concerned about the mounts than flex, and what I saw seemed to be strong mounts. Actually the flex wasn't bad either.

    Just my opinion but there shouldn't be any flex caused by a jack when lifting a "slider". Again, the OEM will be fine for mild off-roading but I would not take the chance on difficult, rocky terrain which there is an abundance of here in Az.

    If there is no flex, that means more of the impact is transferred to some other part of the vehicle. That may be ok. Some amount of flex means some of the impact is being absorbed, which is ok by me, depending on how much.

    I've read other threads and it seems like people don't agree on whether the OEM rock sliders are good enough, but most of the ones that don't think they are good enough spent more money on a/m, or think heavier/stronger is always better. It isn't.

    The video review I saw of the OEM rock sliders showed the flex when jacking up the vehicle with a floor jack until the tire was off the ground. One end flexed within 1/4" of hitting the body panel, the other end within 1/8" of doing the same. They also jacked up the vehicle in the middle of the rock slider, but didn't show the flex on that.

    That is the one I saw as well. I would be hesitant if I got into anything heavy. If that's going to happen during a controlled lift with a jack, I would hate to see the weight of the vehicle falling on one.
