Odyssey 34-PC1500T Battery - Any issues anyone?

I have been running this Odyssey 34 Battery which is supposed to be a top of a line battery for over a year. Upon coming home for a 3 week trip and the 4R sitting in the garage with no action whatsoever, the car wouldn't start and I had to jump it. I don't think I left a door open or a light on, but I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with this battery. I thought this thing was solid but maybe not. Thanks - here is a pic below of the battery when it was brand new.

 

I’ve always been impressed with Odyssey batteries. In the photo I notice some (very tidy) custom electrical work. Perhaps the culprit for the battery drain is there?

I’ve not used odyssey batteries in my 4Runner but have had the exact same experience as you twice with them in my motorcycles. I bought it a second time thinking maybe I got a bum battery on the first but nope they were double the price of most other batteries and only last half as long. I didn’t get a year out of either. I will never buy an odyssey battery ever again.

 

I would take it to your local auto parts store and have them check the cranking amps. That will tell you all you need to know where it is a battery problem or parasitic problem.

The focus on creating long life lead batteries is long gone. Quality is shit no matter the brand. Most every brand battery at your auto parts store is made by Clarios, East Penn or Exide and rebadged, Clarios being the largest commercial and Exide being the largest commercial worldwide. EnerSys makes Odyssey using a slightly different tech. Bottomline, make sure your battery has a warranty. You are not in the majority if your battery lasts 3 years. My last 3 batteries?

Optima Yellow top - 17 months in my Wrangler
Interstate badged - 22 months in my Navigator
OEM Wrangler battery - 9 months in my Wrangler from the factory

When I bought my current 4Runner in December, my dealer put a new Interstate in it. Its lasted 11 months now, no issues. I will check cranking amps before I leave for my 2 week trip to Ouray/Telluride in December.

 

wow - great feedback. I didn't know there was so much behind this. I figured the had to be a big outfit just making these things and others coming in with their labels and specs so that they can market this stuff out. I think i will go to autozone and see if they can tell me what the issue is. I just replaced two months ago the stock I got on the 17' taco. It lasted 4.5 yrs so I figured I did ok, but this odyssey one, is making me nervous. Thank you for the great feedback.
