I added front and rear NYTOP recovery points to my 2024 4Runner. I haven't used them for recovery, but here are my thoughts on the install and design.

My 2017 4Runner went off road without a bumper/winch combo. When you do so, you're relying on the stock recovery/tie down points. There's a lot of discussion as to how strong those are and what's the best aftermarket option. Aside from their strength, good luck finding the stock loops when you need them in east coast mud or sand. I think access is the advantage of this product along with a smooth surface that is soft shackle friendly.

They arrived well packaged in custom foam with no damage. The rear recovery point replaces the factory loop on the frame. Fifteen minutes of finding the correct socket and that's it. I like not having to bring the receiver shackle if my bike rack comes along for the trip.

The passenger side went on without issue following their included instructions. There is limited room for a couple of the bolts which forced me to ratchet just a click or two at time. They actually bolt over the stock loop with a bolt going through that loop.

The driver's side didn't seat to the frame quite as nicely. For this side, I had to keep all bolts very loose and use the drive of the bolts to pull the recovery point to the front of the frame. A little frustrating, but not bad. Follow their advice, tape and pad them during the install if you want them to look pretty. Your ratchet/wrench could make contact as you snug things up.

Will I use them? My 2017 was on a trail when it was 3 months old. This one is my wife's daily, but so was the 2017 at the time. We'll see.

Are these better designed than the others? That's another thread. I keep a bridle with me and would certainly use it with both front points. Rear recovery always seems to be more of a straight pull.

    Cheers!

I was thinking about getting these but they look like they come up super close to the bottom of the bumper? Do you find that it rubs against the black valence cover? Any issues with the valence getting in the way during install?

IMG_8184.jpg No issues with the valence cover during the install. The rear valence makes contact with it, but nothing that hindered install or would worry me at all.IMG_8185.jpg

Thank you for your write up and those extra detailed pics. You've helped me decide that I'm going to get these. I initially wanted to get the ones made by Apex Overland, but I have KDSS and I do not want to deal with drilling into the frame.
