In the current market is the better money spent on just buying new?
    2018 ORP 40k miles $41,000
    2022 ORP $46,000-$49,000.
Seems like new makes more sense but would appreciate all opinions. Coming from a 2012 Tacoma. Texas market
    Thanks
    Ryan

If you're gonna keep it forever, flip a coin. The money you would spend for new can be used to upgrade the pre-owned 4R, and really make it yours. If you trade every few years, the used one has already taken the depreciation hit.

I was in the same boat as you in March 2021. I chose to buy a used 2018 SR5.

It's only new for one day.

    New is cheaper than used.

You will have to find a dealer that isn't charging up from MSRP. If MSRP then new, if over then used.

Some people like the nannies, some don’t. There are a few features and differences from 2018-2022. Personal preference. Otherwise, both will go very well for long enough that the age and mileage may not matter.

While I had complete service records from the same dealer that sold the 2016 XP to the original owner which I bought Sept 2019, a total loss from a wreck's insurance payout brought me within 10K of a 2022 TRD OR which I felt was a better value proportionally than pursuing another used 4R.
While my XP had increased in value, the scarcity of used 4R's raised used prices more than what new vehicle prices had risen. I had driven the XP 29K since purchasing the XP with 30K miles. Buying a new OR with 35 miles on the odometer was worth the 10K to me as opposed to higher mileage on a used 4R. Gil

I would go new if it's in your budget. Used 4Runners have been expensive for years. You're not going to save a lot over new unless you buy one with higher mileage, or possibly an accident on the title. I bought new for this reason.

Appreciate all the responses. I’ve contracted a few local dealers that are selling at msrp. I’m not in a rush so I’m sure I’ll find a what I’m looking for.
