    Hello!
I am new here and stumbled upon this group by accident but I am glad I did. I ordered my 2021 Foreunner S5 Premium 4 1/2 weeks and was told it would be in to the dealership in 3-4 weeks, well after my call to check the status today I was informed that it hasn't even started production yet. To say I am upset is an understatement. Anyone have any positive news to share to give me hope?

I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to salesman and some dealerships. As hot a ticket as the Runner is - and this is an if - if the dealer didn't provide you with paperwork listing the VIN of a particular vehicle? It would give them the latitude to sell what may have been intended for you - to someone willing to pay a higher price.

None of my business but I'd expect them to provide me a VIN number.....especially if I had hard money down. jm2c

Like I said, I'm a cynic. It could be for different reasons, but if so, where did they get the original promise date?

Sorry this is happening to you and welcome aboard :hattip:..........great bunch of folks here! You'll enjoy most all of them.

Welcome from Wisconsin! It's like Moon Landing said, I too ride the "cynic boat" when it comes to sales people, their managers (most of which would sell their souls for a dime) and dealerships. Ask the sales person if they can find one at another dealership, sometimes they work out trades on new vehicles. We got ours this way, they found a vehicle 4-5 hrs away, traded them something they had on the lot... we have a 4Runner! Basic rule for me: No VIN.# = NO money down. Hang in there.

    Welcome!
Did your sales guy give you a VIN# yet? If not, the dealership might not have even been allocated your vehicle yet. It seems strange to me that they told you they would have it in 3-4 weeks without actually having a VIN#.
